Home Beautiful
We see beautiful homes in all forms of today’s media. Even the language used to describe these idealised creations alludes to their constructed and unrealistic nature – homes are “staged”, they have “good bones”, walls are “whitewashed”. But behind the facades are homes that are messy – physically, psychologically and emotionally.
In this series, I am questioning what is real and what is a facade as it pertains to the concepts of house and home and exploring photography’s complicity in maintaining the facade.

Pressure + Balance
The Joinery Coach is a niche coaching business for joinery and cabinetmaking businesses. At the heart of their business is helping joinery business owners to create a business that gives them the freedom and financial security to build the future they want for themselves and their families. The brief was to create a series of still-life images with two themes – Pressure and Balance. The images combine the old and the new as a visual metaphor for the changing face of cabinetmaking businesses and the increasing use of technology. The tools and wood are objects the business owners identify with. Nature elements are included to represent family, wealth, slowing down and transformation.

What the Toys Saw
We imbue our possessions with memories, permeating them with lived recollections that are hidden to all except those that hold them. Memories are not always truthful, nor are the things that we surround ourselves with.
